For starters, referral codes are attached to your account forever. This means that as long as you have your active account with that website, the referral code linking you to the affiliate will also be there. This means that if the Ultimate Bet organization decides in the future to host a special tournament for that affiliate or give out reload bonuses to that affiliate, you will benefit from those actions because of the referral code that ties you to that affiliate. Furthermore, using that referral code will allow the affiliate to be attached to you, potentially leading to special offers with other online poker websites.
There is also a moral issue at work here. If the affiliate in question was responsible for turning you onto the website, why shouldn’t they get rewarded for it? Obviously they should, which is why I don’t understand the anti-affiliate attitude that has cropped up on the part of many people that have been slanging referral codes online recently. When you take a look at what you can gain by having a referral code attached to your account, the only possible conclusion that you can reach is that it is good to have, even if you are not getting anything in the short term out of it. The bottom line is that with something like the Ultimate Bet referral code, you have absolutely nothing to gain by not using it and you have a whole lot to potentially lose in future offers and even current bonuses depending on the particular circumstances surrounding the signup process as it applies to you.
For all these reasons, I would urge people to take anti-affiliate rhetoric with a grain of salt and understand that if you examine the issues logically, you will find that there is a lot that you can gain from the use of referral codes. They are great things that essentially benefit all of the parties involved in their propagation, so feel free to use them ad nauseum whenever you are signing up not just for Ultimate Bet, but for all of the other online poker sites as well.
